Healthy Carrot Orange Turmeric Smoothie

To make this gorgeously bright Healthy Carrot Orange Turmeric Smoothie you will need a juicer and a blender. You can also make it using a power blender only. Just remember to add some water to facilitate blending of carrots. Cold pressed flax seed oil is added to this recipe to facilitate the absorption of beta carotene from carrots. Beta carotene converts to vitamin A in the body. This vitamin, along with the vitamin C from oranges, omega-3 fatty acids from flax seed oil, and anti-inflammatory compounds from turmeric, will give you nice, glowing skin and help calm the inflammation in the body.

Ingredients:

  • 10 organic carrots
  • 4 oranges, peeled, pitted and roughly chopped
  • 1 inch fresh turmeric root
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • tiny pinch mineral-rich Celtic sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp cold pressed flax seed oil
  • a few drops of liquid stevia (optional)

Method:

  • Using a juicer, make the carrot juice. Remember to save the pulp and use it in other raw recipes.
  • Pour the carrot juice into a jar of your blender. Add chopped oranges and the turmeric root. Blend until smooth. Add cinnamon, sea salt, flax oil, and stevia if using, and blend again. Adjust the taste to your personal liking.
  • Pour smoothie into chilled glasses and enjoy it in good company!

Tip: Using exactly the same ingredients you can make a slightly different smoothie if you have a high power blender and your oranges are untreated with a peel safe for consumption. Chop up five carrots and three oranges with the peel on and blend on high speed with a little purified water or a freshly made nut milk. Add all the other ingredients and blend until smooth. Adjust the taste as needed and enjoy the incredible benefits health of orange peel and all the other ingredients. Just keep in mind that a smoothie made this way would have a lot of roughage that could impact your digestion.
