Strawberry Mint Smoothie

Strawberries are in high season now and I am using them almost daily in my raw food recipes. It takes only a few minutes to whiz a wonderful smoothie. All you need is to gather ingredients of your choice.

Make sure, though, that you are using organic ingredients whenever you can, especially strawberries. Tons of pesticide are sprayed on this fragile fruit to protect the interests of agribusiness. To protect your health make sure yours are pesticide-free.

  • 2 cups ripe strawberries, hulled 
  • 2/3 cups fresh mint leaves
  • 1/3 hemp protein
  • 1 cup coconut water (use spring water if you prefer)
  • 2-3 ice cubes 
  • a few mint leaves for garnish

  • Place all the ingredients in the jar of your blender. Whiz until smooth.
  • Pour smoothie into glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Enjoy in good company!

Tip: I used very ripe strawberries so my smoothie was sweet enough. If you need to add any sweetener at all, use a few drops of liquid stevia or a teaspoon of raw honey. Also, if hemp protein is hard to come by, use unflavored raw protein or ripe banana.
