It started snowing last night! Not much, but just enough to fill the hearts with joy and forget all the grayness of late fall. And what is the best way to celebrate first snow if not with a snow white smoothie?
I made this simple smoothie with white ingredients that I had in my kitchen. But if you are naughty enough you may want to experiment a bit to create another version of this delicious, snow white smoothie: take plain (vegan) yogurt or almond milk instead of the coconut milk, for instance. You may want to add some pineapple or a pear and, more warming spices.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup coconut butter
- 1 cup coconut water
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 Tbsp raw orange blossom honey
- 1/2 tsp warming chai spices
- 1 Tbsp freshly grated ginger root
- pinch Celtic sea salt to balance the flavors
- 1/4 cup raw coconut flakes for garnish
- 2-3 ice cubes, totally optional since you do not really want to drink ice-cold drinks in winter
Method:
- Pour out the coconut flakes into a small shallow bowl or a plate, spread evenly. Moisten the edges of tall glasses with a slice of lime or lemon. Dip the glasses in coconut flakes. They should form a nice, white circle. Allow the rim to set completely.
- Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until you receive a wonderfully creamy smoothie. Adjust the taste to your personal liking.
- Pour your concoction into prepped glasses and enjoy it in good company!
Let it snow...
There are many ways to celebrate winter, but no matter what you do, never forget to keep your body warm and well nourished.
